So, Flora totally walked in on her parents woohooing just now but instead of leaving she just sat down and started reading a book. If she was trying to annoy her parents then it worked, but I mean what the heck Flora??

The last time David was over at the house he was sort of rude to Ellen for whatever reason but now they seemed to be alright with each other. It’d be nice if they could get along since he and Flora are becoming better friend and he’ll probably be over a lot in the future.

Flora’s sci fi novel, “A Picnic in Zelofencia” is a best seller. Set in the year 1944, it’s a story about a dystopian future where air travel as taken over and a corrupt leader leads the enviable doom of the human race by convincing them that eating meat is over all deadly and that all their problems will be solved once they rid their society of a subculture of people who are marked by wearing a gold star on their clothes. It’s a bit far out there but the public ate it up. Who would have thought that a 16 year old could turn out a bestseller on their first try? My children are just gifted like that.

Here Flora is praising one of Benjamin’s old books. She’s seen that he hasn’t really been himself for the past year and, even though she doesn’t know why he’s been so down, she’s reminding him that writing would cheer him up and give him a feeling of purpose again.

Benjamin decided to put his heart back into writing, which also ended up having a positive effect on him tackling the new promotion he just got. Writing news stories, interviewing people around town, and schmoosing with colleagues at parties is a part of his job now, and he’s taking to it as successfully as ever. He might be on his way to even higher positions in the future.

So, strangely, Joe Power (Benjamin’s boss) called Cecilia one day to ask her to go out with him. She knew him a little bit beforehand at the family’s past gift giving parties but I didn’t know Joe specifically had his eye on Cecilia. Anyways, Cecilia decided to accept his invitation and they spent the evening together having dinner at the local restaurant. Cecilia accepted every time Joe flirted with her and she even flirted with him a little. When the night drew to a close I think they both parted ways feeling an attraction to the other person. The whole thing was sort of bizarre, if you ask me – I mean, he is Benjamin’s boss so I hope they discussed this before he asked her out.
